In the early years of the 18th century, Japan saw the birth of a legend.

A man of honor would soon come into conflict with a powerful and corrupt court official. His refusal to bribe such a powerful man would lead to his death.

Though the shogunate forbade revenge, 47 of Asano Naganori’s most loyal retainers would commit themselves to avenging their dead lord. Revenge would be had and the 47 would die by their own hands, preserving their honor and their legend forever.
